Since I have been alive Bassett Furniture has been the center piece of my hometown, My high school and hometown was even named after the business. Bassett has always had their headquarters five minutes from my house because thats where it originated. I have the privilege that in the past five summers I have been able to be apart of this great organization. Since starting I have had numerous jobs and gone to several other Bassett Furniture factories, factories that I am privileged to say both my dad and grandpa have been to and worked for as well. My dad is a sales rep for Bassett Furniture and has been since I can remember, over the years of being around him as much as I am and sharing the same interest in career fields we have had several conversations on marketing and how it effects the business. Two times a year (usually in April or October) my father goes to High Point North Carolina, and is put in a convention center where Bassett Furniture has put up display rooms. All day he walks around giving sales pitches to people and passes out price books to potential clients along with current clients. His goal is to try to set up a meeting where he can put furniture in their stores. After market my dad does not hesitate and uses his company car to go see his clients to check on them along with going to other potential places. He has 4 territories, south west side of Virginia, all of West Virginia, north east side of Kentucky, and south east side of Ohio. So he is always on the road trying to sell and get the company name out there and bring in more revenue for the company and our family. I have had the opportunity accompanying him with one of his sales and what he had me do was fill out the work orders and once I finished filling them out for him I would have to fax them over to our headquarters to go to our local manufactures to get produced. Which leads me to where I come into this, when I am not with him and not in college I go to the factories to observe quality of the product and to help pack and assemble the pieces of furniture. I would also have to sign off on each product before it left the warehouse to make sure it was the right color and piece of furniture. After inspecting it is shipped our customer with in 30 days guaranteed, if its not to standards it goes to our product manager (which my grandpa was for many years) and if our product manager says its no good we fix until the customer is satisfied. Bassett offers full refund if the product is faulted or damaged upon delivery, customer satisfaction is our number one priority. My family especially has prided ourselves in this work for several year and will continue for many years to come.
